Day 1 Arrival in Paro.
Flight to Paro has spectacular views of the Everest, Kanchen Junga and other Himalayan peaks, including the sacred Chomolhari and Jichu Drakey in Bhutan are awesome. Evening stroll old Paro town and peep into some local handicrafts stores. One can also venture to try local restaurant for dinner. Overnight in Paro. Altitude 2200m.
Day 2 Paro to Trashigang (fly out).
After our breakfast transfer to Paro airport for your flight to Trashigang, eastern most district of Bhutan. On arrival at Yanphula, you will be received by our representative and transfer to your hotel at Trashigang. The drive will bypass Sherabtse College, country’s first and oldest college when it started few decays ago. Evening we will relax at our hotel and explore the little Tashigang town, meeting nomadic people from Merak and Sakten. Overnight in Trashigang. Altitude 1400m.
Day 3 Trashigang halt.
Trashigang sightseeing includes visit the Radi villages meeting locals and excursion to Khaling to see textile weaving center which is very famous for silk weaving. En-route we will stop to visit Trashigang Dzong. The Dzong was built by 3rd Druk Desi, Chogyal Minjur Tempa in 1669 as per the wish made by Zhabdrung before he went into retreat in 1652. Chogyal Minjur Tempa ruled the country from 1667 to 1680 and died in 1691. The Dzong was built on commanding hill top overlooking Drangme Chhu to defend Tibetans invader in 17 century. Today it houses the office of the district administrative officer and district monk body. Overnight in Trashigang.
Day 4 Trashigang to Mongar.
Checkout from the hotel and make an excursion drive to Trashi Yangtse before proceeding to Mongar. En-route visit famous Gomphukora, duksum to see the iron bridge built by Thong Thong Gylpo in 16th century and beautiful chortenkora. The chorten is said to have built over a live prince buried under the chorten as a offering to the deity and to pin down and demon receding in the area which use to destruct human activities as far as to Arunachal Pradesh, India. Still today, many people from Arunachal Pradesh come to witness the annual ritual preformed at Chortenkora. Evening we will retrace our drive back to Chazam and proceed to Mongar. Overnight in Mongar, altitude 1600m.
Day 5 Mongar festival.
After the breakfast, we will proceed to festival site and witness the most interesting annual Mongar festival (Tsechu) for whole day. Festivals are preformed to honor Buddhist saint Guru Rimpoche who brought Buddhism in the country in 7th century. Tse meaning date and chu meaning tenth, is performed annually in all the districts coinciding with tenth day of the Bhutanese calendar. Interesting and colorful mask dances are shown publicly in a open ground specially in the courtyard of the fortress, “The Dzong”, where all people gather to witness the dances. Witnessing the Tsechu is believed to accumulate the good deeds and help us to ride of the sins committed in the past. This is also wonderful opportunity to click the Bhutanese in best outfit with most expensive garments and jewelries. Don’t miss to witness this unique festivals of Bhutan. Overnight in Mongar.
Day 6 Mongar to Jakar.
Today’s drive takes us through Thrumshingla, the highest road pass in the country making this the most spectacular drives in the country as we climb up from Lingmithang to Thrumshingla. Just in a distance of 84 km we will gain 3200m altitude showing us different type of vegetations. En route visit Ura village, made of cluster of large stone houses. Further about 52km, there lies a valley of white bird, Jakar. Overnight in Jakar, altitude 2650m.
Day 7 Jakar sightseeing.
Visit Jampay Lakhang, the one of the first 2 Buddhist temples built in the country. This is the home of the naked dance that is still performed annually. Visit the Kurjey Temple, the site where Bhutan’s royals are cremated. One can either walk cross the suspension bridge and visit the village of Parar and Tamshing or drive there. End your day with a walk passing by the Swiss farm. Evening stroll in Jakar town and try some local pancakes and noodles. Overnight at Jakar.
Day 8 Jakar to Phobjikha.
Today we will have an early departure for the lengthy drive to Phobjikhakha, valley of black necked cranes. Upon entering the valley we will pay homage to Gangtey Gonpa before checking into the resort. If time permits we will take beautiful walk meeting locals and students. Evening we may enjoy talking tales of Yeti as it is very famous in the black mountain region. Overnight in Farm House in Phobjikha. Altitude 2900m.
Day 9 Phobjikha to Punakha.
Check out from the hotel after our breakfast. We will take 2 hours Phobjikha natural trail until Gangtey Gonpa. Further we will proceed to warm valley of Punakha. Enqurote we will stop at Wangdue and visit and retrace our drive back to Paro via, Wangdue, Dochula and Thimphu. On arrival in Paro, we will visit national museum of Bhutan and Paro dzong. Evening we will explore the tiny Paro town. Overnight in Paro. Altitude 2200m.
Day 10 Punakha to Thimphu.
Punakha was the capital of Bhutan until the 1950s. Today, the central monk body moves to Punakha in the winter when it gets too cold in Thimphu. With a climate almost tropical in the summer, the valley is blessed with an abundance of fruits and rice. We will visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong which without doubt showcases the finest example of Bhutanese arts and crafts. After the Dzong, we will drive to the capital, Thimphu, over the Dochu La pass (3000m). Overnight in Thimphu, altitude 2400m.
Day 11 Thimphu sightseeing.
After our leisurely breakfast we will start our day visiting handmade paper factory, visit painting school, nearby folk heritage museum and national library. Lunch in the town, after lunch we will drive to north end of Thimphu valley and hike to Tango monastery, which is converted into Buddhist college. Evening we will explore the weekend market (Thursday to Sunday only) and some handicrafts to understand the Bhutanese arts, textiles, painting, religious artifacts and the varieties. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 12 Thimphu to Paro.
Check out from the hotel and visit few interesting places in Thimphu before proceeding to Paro. On arrival in Paro, we will visit national museum of Bhutan and Paro dzong. Evening we will explore the tiny Paro town. Overnight in Paro. Altitude 2200m.
Day 13 Paro sightseeing.
Early morning after our delicious breakfast drive to north end of Paro valley and hike to Tiger Nest Temple. The hike to Tiger’s Nest will take most of our day. The temple is one of the most renowned temple in the Buddhist world one of the ten most visit site before we die. This is most revolted temple in the country that literally hangs on a granite cliff overlooking the Paro Valley at 900m above the valley. En-route visit Kichu Lhakhang, one from the 2 oldest Buddhist temple in the country, historic Drukgyal Dzong (Fortress) and Evening at leisure. Overnight in Paro.
Day 14 Departure.
The tour will end today. After the breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport for your departure flight. Carry smile on your face, eyes with tears and memories unlimited. Tour staffs will bid you farewell at the airport departure gate with the quick prayer of save journey and to see you again in future.
